Is it really PCOS?

?? ?? ?????? ?????⁣

⁣I find there are people who have been misdiagnosed after I have a consultation with them. Lets just clear one thing up really quick, PCOS can not be diagnosed just from an ultra sound.⁣

It is very common for woman to have cysts on their ovaries due to ovulation each month. Having cysts does not mean you have PCOS nor does a lack of cysts mean you are clear of PCOS either. Cysts aren’t even the first thing we should be looking at as an indication. ⁣

First step will be to have an androgen and insulin test (because 70% of those with PCOS are usually insulin resistance), NOT just a glucose or HbA1c test.⁣

Androgen excess (termed “male” hormone although women have it and need it, it’s just more dominant in men) is one of the main signs of PCOS, with other factors that may also cause it being certain types of contraceptives, high prolactin, etc.⁣

Having irregular periods or no periods could be a sign of PCOS but, it could also be hypothalamic amenorrhea, which is lack of periods due to under-eating, under-eating carbs, over exercising, lack of nutrients etc. ⁣

?? ?? ???? ?? ?? ?? ????? ?? ?? ????????? ???? ????, ? ??? ? ???? ?? ?? ??????? ????????? ?? ??? ????????? ????????:⁣

1- ????????? ??????????? (delayed/missed periods)⁣

2- ???????????????? (blood test, once, excess hair growth especially on the face)⁣

3- ?????????? ????? ?????????? (certain amount and size of follicles on each ovary is evaluated) ⁣

You guys know this is so close to my heart as I had PCOS and have been misdiagnosed many times. So ladies please don’t just take it with a pinch of salt, get a proper diagnosis, ask your doctor as many questions as you need to so you know how to fix the root problem.⁣
