Is intermittent fasting good for women?

But when you dig deeper you will notice that the majority of the research has been done on men and NOT women. โฃ

Why? It becomes โ€œcomplicatedโ€ to do research on women to get true results due to the fluctuations in hormones thought our cycle. โฃ

A womanโ€™s reproductive function is intricately connected to her metabolic function, and vice versa. โฃ

โฃ

So anytime a womanโ€™s body gets a โ€œstarvation signalโ€ from her environment (like not eating for a stretch of time or not feeling hungry in the mornings), it goes into protection mode.โฃ

๐˜ž๐˜ฉ๐˜ช๐˜ค๐˜ฉ ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ ๐˜ค๐˜ข๐˜ถ๐˜ด๐˜ฆ๐˜ด:โฃ

- The body to hold onto weight (to survive)โฃ

- Increases production of the hunger hormones ghrelin and leptin (you want to eat everything in sight)โฃ

- Slows down non-essential functions like reproduction (your bodyโ€™s focused on keeping you alive and wonโ€™t โ€œwasteโ€ energy on fertility)โฃ

The two other major aspects you need to take into consideration is that when this happens, your cortisol and thyroid take a hit as well, causing further complications in your body.โฃ

There are ways to fast for women that wonโ€™t cause a major disruption in your system which I will cover next.โฃ

But for now, donโ€™t be a poopy pumpkin and cause unnecessary stress for your body.โฃ
