By now we know that what we put into our bodies can profoundly affect our overall health and well-being.
During holidays, vacations, celebration I may vary from what I usually eat and I’ve learnt to do with no guilt but just enjoyment (which has taken me a long time to get there).
But at some point my body is like “Aren’t you done yet, sis? DAMN!”
I feel it. I know it.
I may not sleep as well, a lil more sluggish, digestion is off, energy levels and mental alertness is not as sharp.
Now imagine repeating that constantly. Many are living in a chronic state of being over fed and undernourished.
But it starts with self-love.
I love myself with each dish I cook and each bite I take because it is going into the ONLY body I will ever have!
I park the words “healthy” and “unhealthy” because I don’t need the shame that goes along with them. Eating the slice of cake with negative thoughts is much worse than just eating the cake.
Your body feels and reacts to whatever your brain is thinking and saying.
This is why cooking your meals goes beyond just nourishing your body.
It is 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 (not the “I’m gettin’ my nails did type), the tangible part - cooking.
It is 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲, the emotional act- appreciating and loving eat bite you take.
If you are new to cooking and feel overwhelmed, just pick 3-4 easy recipes that you enjoy, rotate the protein, veggies and grains to add diversity each week, and do this until you feel ready to add more recipes to your repertoire.
And then… see the magic happen:)
